Punk rock has had lasting grip on Los Angeles where the musical and cultural phenomenon developed from a freeways-based melting pot. The passion for punk has continued for forty years!  The GoGo’s, X, Social Distortion, Mike Watt are still big draws, and smaller bands from LA punk’s early days still play and draw fans–as well as inspiring new generations of punks.

In 2010, La Luz de Jesus celebrated punk rock with photographer Ruby Ray’s showcase a collection of iconic images from Punk’s golden age–eight months before the Brooklyn Museum launched their “Who Shot Rock N Roll” exhibition. Now Ray returns to La Luz de Jesus with a new book and pop-up photo show June 28-30. Ray will be signing he first published anthology of her work, From the Edge of the World: California Punk 1977-81, which features a CD anthology of seminal CA punk bands from 6pm to 8pm on Friday June 28th. The opening reception will continue until 10 PM.
