Dark Beach, curated by Innocnts for New Image Art Gallery, took visitors into the gritty underbelly of the Southern California surf scene. But despite the dark themes of lost loves, lost lives, pollution, destruction, and “locals only,” attendees were in good spirits, fueled by the music from Cal Arts alumnae Stupid Man Suits, the camaraderie of surfing, and the exciting art.
