Bomb It 2: Jon Reiss Live Interview, Monday 9/10

Filmmaker Jon Reiss is a champion of street and graffiti, and tomorrow, September 10 from 5pm to 6:30pm West Coast time, I’ll be interviewing him live on Firedoglake.com about his new film Bomb It 2, the follow up to his renowned global graffiti documentary Bomb It. In Bomb It 2, Reiss–using a ultra compact camera and sound package– traveled by himself to film artists and writers representing the indigenous street art scenes in Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Perth, Melbourne, Copenhagen, Chicago, Austin and the Palestinian refugee camps on the West Bank.
He explored urban landscapes and a wide range of graffiti cultures, styles and beliefs– Klone, Know Hope, Great Bates, Twoone, Darbotz, Killer Gerbil and Zero, Bon, Alex Face, Sloke, Husk Mit Navn, Ash, Phibs, Stormie Mills, Beejoir, Zero Cents, Vexta, MIC, and Xeme, and many more–discovering some startling similarities:
I was inspired to explore how and where graffiti and street art had penetrated the globe into some of the most unlikely places… At the same time it was interesting to see how some of the constants of graffiti exist nearly everywhere – from Perth to Copenhagen: the need to express oneself in public – and the addictive nature of getting up!
