“Amazing” was the expression most often heard Saturday night at Create:Fixate’s 12 year anniversary exhibit of “I Art You.”  Artists from 40 different inventive backgrounds joined Create:Fixate at DTLA’s Lot 613 as they celebrated another successful event.

The show gathered dozens of fine artists, musicians, and art enthusiasts. Attendees were impressed by the remarkable platform which presented paintings, taxidermy sculptures, and laser beam light shows, set against live music and DJs.

Guests were struck by the contrast between the  dystopian landscapes and shrouded taxidermy by Sweetieboosh as kids of all ages were busy making Valentine cards and expressing their creativity in Create:Fixate’s ‘Kreativity’ Zone.

One of the two galleries was solely dedicated to Create:Fixate’s  electronic light art installation, which included over a dozen artists and musicians.  The room was alive with bright colors and electric dancing beats, while the other gallery exhibited a dozen more remarkable painters, sculptures, and artisan crafters.

As the party continued into an evening for the 21 and over crowd,  Matching Up LA, a Beverly Hills matchmaking company, guided a singles mixer, encouraging the making of new friends. While drinks were flowing, art patrons were admiring live painting by Johnie Thornton, Benedigital, and Bruce Telopa. The three artists were fixated on their cosmic paintings, each depicting what art means to them. Respectively, each piece carried a unique blend of fine art and erratic adventure.

Thornton says:

My paintings tell a story of man versus. nature and being able to share this dynamic experience with Create:Fixate is very exciting.

Create:Fixate spreads the importance of art and music by providing opportunities for emerging artists to create, perform, and sell their work through mixed-media exhibitions. Create:Fixate crosses different neighborhoods and reaches audiences of every ethnicity and economic background.

Producer and Curator Michelle Berc told us:

I’m filled with so much gratitude for having a consistent fan base for over twelve years. I want to thank all our patrons for having the curiosity to explore new talent through Create:Fixate’s exhibits and support our Young Creatives program by helping us keep arts education alive for our younger generations.

The Create:Fixate team members expect their next event to take place late spring/early summer. For more information, visit CreateFixate.com.
