Moby’s ‘Innocents’ Closing Reception and Parade

 

If you happened to be on the block of Cahuenga and Sunset on Friday, March 28, you might have seen a vision that had you questioning whether you were wide awake (even in Hollywood). A procession of white-draped, colorfully masked figures trailed behind a scarlet-robed Moby with a kind of quiet excitement. En route to the interior of PROJECT Gallery, the vibrantly mysterious succession had airs of both animation and respect for the surreal, sacred-feeling ritual. Moby’s performance incorporated public participants into this final component of his photography show, Parade of Innocents. Known worldwide for his music, Moby’s visual play is now coming more to light. But he’s no newcomer to shooting. Moby reveals:

I’ve been photographing since about age 10,

at which time he began to experiment with cameras of his father’s.

He has and plans to continue collaborating in various capacities with with David Lynch, whose clearly influential, dream-like style of work also spans many genres– from painting to film to music. In addition to having just shown at Project Gallery, Moby is a currently a participant in Art and Sound, a body of art exploring relationship between visual and audio media. The show plays in tune with Coachella at Gallery 446  in Palm Springs. The space is holding ‘Gifting Lounge’ events from 11am-5pm Saturday, March 12 and Saturday, March 19th. In the same vein, Moby is making an appearance at this year’s Lightning In a Bottle festival, which also features visual art as well as music and performance.

These fully-immersive events will be speaking to you through all of your senses, physical and otherwise!
