May 17: Tour the Downtown Art District Murals with Cartwheel Art

As media partners with Create:Fixate, Cartwheel Art founder Cindy Schwarzstein has designed a sunset walking tour of the murals in Central and South sections of Downtown Los Angeles Art District. Cartwheel Art created this group tour for patrons and guests of the Create: Fixate shows who usually come at night and are not familiar with the area, giving them an opportunity to see the area during the day.

Take an urban stroll through the exciting Downtown Los Angeles Art District exploring LA’s best street art, followed by optional cocktails and dinner at Villains Tavern, one of downtown’s hidden gems. Top off the evening by tapping into the artistic pulse of Los Angeles at Create:Fixate “Serendipity” where art and music combine for a unique outside-the gallery experience.

Based in the Arts District, Cartwheel Art has staged successful tours for groups including guests of the L.A. Art Show and the Los Angeles chapter of the American Planning Associations. Murals on this tour including emerging and world famous artists like Ron English, Saber, Allison “Hueman” Torneros, Andrew Schoultz, Anthony Lister, Augusine Kofie, Beau Stanton, Christina Angelina and Fin Dac, Cleon Peterson, Dabs & Myla /Greg “Craola” Simkins, El Mac, and How and Nosm, and dozens of others. Murals by internationally well-known, local, and, emerging artists. Participants will also view architectural points of interest including the 6th Street Bridge, he location of many blockbuster films plus an important site for old-school graffiti.

Perched aside the Los Angeles River in the Arts District along Downtown’s eastern boundary, Villains Tavern is the master plan of interior designer/nightlife impresario Dana Hollister (Cliff’s Edge, Brite Spot). The building has an eccentric pedigree (a former sandwich and spirits shop on a property owned by the bizarre electronics TV pitchman Crazy Gideon), and Hollister converted it into a lavishly baroque yet intimate watering hole for eclectic hipsters plotting their own nightly schemes. Villains is offering 10% off dinner and cocktails for tour members.

Tickets for the walking tour, which begins at 5:30 and goes to 7pm, with optional no-host dinner and cocktails at Villains, with a 10% discount for tour guests from 7pm to 8pm includes admission to Create:Fixate are $30, and are available at this link.
