Launching October 18, MOSAIC brings electronic music and an interactive art experience together in one of the most unique nightclub locations in Los Angeles – The Westmoreland. The venue–designed to meld Western esoteric themes like Masonry, thaumaturgy, and ritual magic in the vibe of a haunted Southern mansion, with wrought iron and more from the creatives at The Black Broom–features multiple rooms and an outdoor patio, making it perfect for MOSAIC’s multi-dimensional once-a-month event series.

MOSAIC, a music and art collective which debuts its monthly residency at the Koreatown-based venue, presents a gathering of artistic minds who offer a communal experience for music and art lovers alike. The founders and producers of MOSAIC strive to create a sense of building community through these monthly installments, providing a meeting grounds for like-minded Angelenos. Paul George, co-founder explains:

We started MOSAIC based on the ethos of ‘creating together.’ Our goal is to provide an environment where our attendees feel welcomed to participate and not just be spectators. Our curation of DJs, live artists and visuals are specific to help offer that creativity, and we are fortunate to be working with partners and sponsors who share our vision. As a community, we’re here to celebrate and share originality and cultural expression.

DJs Mister Blaqk, Sonder and Brian Polar will be spinning an eclectic mix of electronic music throughout the event, creating the perfect dance experience, and providing a soundtrack for the video and image projections and the art activations staged by Lauren Over and Sticky Shaw. Art Share L.A. and Cartwheel Art have partnered with MOSAIC to provide the imagery and the  live, interactive art experiences.

Drawing on the esoteric vibes of The Westmoreland and her own interest in tarot and astrology, Lauren Over will use her personally designed deck of cards to do a reading on the space. This three-card spread will become the imagery she creates on her canvases, while participants add in interpretive text, their own imagery and visual elements of the room itself.

Sticky Shaw’ exhibition at the inaugural MOSAIC event follows a successful summer in which he had a solo show at AR4T in Laguna Beach and was the live artist in residence on Nike’s Risk Everything West Coast tour. The artist’s “organized chaos” style art, which layers collaged memorabilia and vibrant painted scribbles, makes him a natural fit to debut MOSAIC’s interactive, outdoor live painting exhibition.

MOSAIC’s take on club-going builds on the tradition of Andy Warhol’s Factory sensory stimulating parties while combining the immersive experience for creative fest-friendly community in one of Los Angeles’ most uniquely decorated clubs.
