In now well-established tradition, tens of thousands of music-lovers are flocking to the desert this month for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. While festival goers are soaking up the desert rays at the Empire Polo Club, Eddie Donaldson will be offering a similar experience, sans heat stroke, at Gallery 446: Art & Sound, an art festival featuring a different type of creation from select musicians and artists. From Brandon Boyd and Steven Adler to Moby and DJ Poet, the Art & Sound festival will present original artwork by some of the finest talents in music and the arts.

Slated as “A Journey into the Mind of Music”, the exhibit curated by Eddie Donaldson, Raymond Roker, and Jen DiSisto explores the relationship between art and music via photography, drawings, concert posters, and an interactive soundwall. Needless to say, there will be music throughout. The exhibit will run from April 9th to May 4th, 11am-7pm at Gallery 446, with special parties going down on April 9th and 18th from 7-10 pm.

Pieces will include works by musicians Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Moby, Steven Adler(Guns N’ Roses), Adam Bravin (She Wants Revenge), DJ Poet (Black Eyed Peas), Skinhead Rob Aston (Transplants/Death March), Cisco Adler (Whiteheartt), Nico Turner (Cat Power), solo artist Joseph Arthur, Neal Casal (Ryan Adams’ the Cardinals), Bobby Alt (Street Drum Corp), and Mod Sun; photographs by Piper Ferguson, Estevan Oriol, Jannette Beckman, Richard Corman, Block, Patrick Hoelck, Bobby Alt, Frank Maddocks; concert posters by Jim Evans (TAZ) and EMEK; street art by Risk and The Blakhat; works by Franki Chan (IHeartComix), Craig Skibs Barker, Jessicka Addams, album artist Opie Ortiz (Sublime), and god knows what from Andy Dick.

And what’s a rock and roll exhibit without an after party? In conjunction with Culture Collide, the opening night event on April 9th continues at the Hard Rock Hotel with DJ and live sets by Miami Horror, DJ Poet, Elliphant, The One And Only PPL MVR, Dorothy, special appearances by some secret guests, and live painting by artist Ryan Campbell. If you find yourself in Indio this month, swing by Art & Sound to inject a little fine art into your music appreciation.
