“Hollywood Boulevard”

Jeff Honig a twenty-year local of West Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills, led groups with Cartwheel Art Tours on historic Hollywood Boulevard, for guests of the Airbnb Open – Los Angeles. The Neighborhood Explorations were part of the programming on Thursday November 17th, curated and produced by Cartwheel Art Tours founder, Cindy Schwarzstein.

Jeff, who is also an award winning real estate agent that’s been in the business for twenty years, shared some insider tips on developments and real state trends in Hollywood, as well as pointing out murals, stars, significant and historical places of interest in the Hollywood film industry, and also where Hollywood night-life occurs, as well as much more, in one of his favorite areas in Los Angeles–Hollywood!

The first stop during the exploration, was the historical Crossroads of the World, built in 1936 by Robert V. Derrahand, as the first American shopping mall. Jeff spoke about the architecture of the Crossroads, which was unique in that it featured a central building designed to resemble an ocean liner surrounded by a small village of cottage-style bungalows. He further shared that Crossroads, now hosts private offices, primarily for the entertainment industry, as well as being used for location shooting in many films including L.A. Confidential, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane and Café Society.

From there he showed the group the contrast of Hollywood and Highland Center as well as The Walk of Stars before arriving at the historically significant Mann’s Chinese Theater (originally Grauman’s Chinese Theatre). It’s at Mann’s Chinese Theatre, where, guests learned about the handprint ceremonies and saw the handprints, footprints and signatures of some of my favorite’s.

One of the highlights during the exploration was the stop at the 1922 Egyptian Theatre, a 2000 National Preservation Honor Award Winner, which is now, the American Cinematheque’s permanent home.

During Jeff’s Neighborhood Exploration, Guests also saw the masonic temple, where late night television host Jimmy Kimmel tapes his show.

Contact Cindy to have her organize a unique and immersive experience, with Jeff, for your private group or organization.
