Progress Photos & Save the Date: Berlin’s DIE DIXONS – THE HAUS Playground with Live Art / Virtual Reality Retrospective of THE HAUS – Wednesday 10/4 through Thursday 10/5
Berliner street art fellas DIE DIXONS, are on tour in Los Angeles, for the launch of “Berlin Lab”, an event series created by the city of Berlin and be Berlin, to celebrate the 50th anniversary as sister cities. The free two-day event will take place on Wednesday October 4th – Thursday October 5th, at Lot 613, in our neighborhood of the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. Berlin Lab will offer both destinations a platform for exchange about freedom and creativity encompassing a variety of cultural activities.
Berlin Lab will be providing an authentic taste of Berlin’s emerging tech, art, music, and food scenes. Programming includes a robust schedule of cultural panels, workshops, interactive music stations, street art by DIE DIXONS, a conference programmed by Europe´s largest interdisciplinary technology festival from Berlin, Tech Open Air, and a design symposium commemorating bauhaus100 of the Bauhaus movement. There will also be a “Lange Tafel” that will take place on Thursday where the public will be invited to share food and stories of freedom, while enjoying a networking station by STATE Festival, F&B, and a closing party.
On both day’s of the event, DIE DIXONS and some of their befriended street artists will be bringing their street art from Berlin to L.A. with freestyle live painting sessions of murals, as well as a virtual reality retrospective of THE HAUS, the temporary urban art project that delighted over 80,000 Berliners in the Spring of 2017. DIE DIXONS will be accomplishing this in what they are calling THE HAUS Playground. It’s here where they share that the gang, who are the artist collective Inner elds; Bas2 of GHS; Rocco and his brothers; and the virtual reality team of realities.io. will be re-telling the story of THE HAUS in a huge mural they are painting that will be 50 x 6 meter tall, while inviting visitors into the virtual reality version of THE HAUS. In THE HAUS Playground, visitors will discover the art rooms and holographic interviews of the artists, bringing THE HAUS back to life with its 108 art-rooms, created by 165 artists.
