SAVE THE DATE: A Charity Dinner Event to Benefit The L.A. Kitchen and Upper Ojai Relief – Sunday April 22nd

Posted by

The horrific event known as The Thomas Fire that ravaged Ventura County in December is thankfully long over, but the suffering and needs of so many are not. Many residents of the burned-out communities of Upper Ojai continue to live in temporary shelters. A community effort now known as Upper Ojai Relief was begun to help those most in need. Led by residents Trevor Quirk and Justin Homze, nearly $100K has been raised, but much more is needed.

Ventura County’s Emergency Management Team has been helping various relief shelters across Ventura County, facilitating contributions including the daily need for fresh food. However, since all contributions must come from licensed, commercial kitchens, it was not an easy task. Thankfully, L.A. Kitchen immediately responded and began the daily delivery of hundreds – and then thousands – of fresh meal contributions to Ventura County for nearly a month. Then, Jose Andres set up his World Kitchen in Ventura, with the majority of fresh ingredients originating from LA Kitchen. These organizations have helped so many in this ongoing time of unbelievable need.

Now, the Daily Dose owner Sarkis Vartanian is graciously offering his charming restaurant in the heart of LA’s Arts District to Slow Food Ventura County, continuing their support efforts by hosting a special charity event on Sunday, April 22nd.

The dinner event will include a gourmet four-course meal specially created by Chef Vartan Abgaryan of 71Above at The Daily Dose in the Arts District. The evening will also feature fine wines provided by Duclot La Vinicole, spirits by Blinking Owl, bread by Guy Frenkel/Ceor Breads and dessert by Rose Lawrence.

A generous donation by artist Eric Junker of 100 signed limited edition prints of ‘All I Want is More Beautiful #2’ are available for $100.00 (with dinner or separately.)  Proceeds from the sale of Eric’s art will directly benefit L.A. Kitchen and Upper Ojai Relief. $5K will be donated by Slow Food Ventura County to each organization.
