SAVE THE DATE: Corey Helford Gallery opens THREE new shows including Camille Rose Garcia – Saturday May 12

Pop Surrealist star Camille Rose Garcia headlines the trio of openings at Corey Helford Gallery this weekend, featuring her signature style of psychedelia, animation, and storytelling. This exhibition of new work entitled “The Wonderful World of Dr. Deekay” will feature 10 new paintings, dozens of illustrations, a stop-motion animated film, puppets, and a new mural based on her soon-to-be-released book, ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Deekay.”  The new series is based in part on a horrific true-life dental tale which the painter experienced several years ago. In one of her largest-scale projects to date, the multiple aspects for this exhibit showcase the best of signature Garcia style, from the stop-motion film presented inside a giant booth in the gallery, to her newest wall mural. Her color palette may be sweet, but these paintings are definitely not. Blending humor and horror as is her usual, Garcia leads us down a path, not for the faint of heart. It is exactly what her fans expect and desire!

Garcia ‘s unique work has appeared in multiple art publications, including Juxtapoz, Rolling Stone, Flaunt, and Paper, as well as being widely exhibited in both galleries and museums from LACMA to San Jose, where she had a solo show in 2007. She has also been on the New York Times Best Seller List with her illustrated version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.Top and bottom images by Camille Rose Garcia

In Gallery 2, Polish Artist Ewa Prończuk-Kuziak makes her solo debut at CHG with her exhibit entitled “True Colors.”  Her brilliantly colored and carefully composed works primarily of animals address what she calls the “dualities of life: the ups and downs, the good and bad, love and hate.”
