SAVE THE DATE: CAMA Foundation Launches at The Container Yard – Friday, November 2

On Friday, November 2, CAMA Foundation will celebrate their Los Angeles launch with two art events. The “Time Lapse Exhibition” and “Art Beyond the Canvas” both take place at The Container Yard in the DTLA Arts District. The events showcase Iranian art, film, photography, architecture, and humanitarian projects around the world. The exhibition will run for two weeks, closing on November 14. The opening reception, Friday at 8 pm, is free and open to the public. The Green Truck will be there serving tacos.

Time Lapse, previously shown in London and Tehran, presents the photographic works of eight multiple-award-winning film directors, stretching beyond dynamic filmmaking to the creation of fine art. 17 incredible thought-provoking photographs reflect the emotions of human perseverance and perspective through time.

Time Lapse features the work of Cannes Film Festival award-winning directors Jafar Panahi and Abbas Kiarostami, Cannes Film Festival award nominee Nasser Taghvai, award-winning documentarian Kamran Shirdel, San Sebastian International Film Festival award-winning director Majid Barzegar, World Press Photo award-winning cinematographer Seifollah Samadian and celebrated actor and Cairo Film Festival award-winning director Hamid Jebeli. The Los Angeles exhibition will also present the photography of the much adored and respected Iranian actor and activist Reza Kianian.

Art Beyond The Canvas is a collaboration by Cal-Earth Institute, Eco Domes Africa, Intsikelelo and CAMA Gallery. It puts into action the philosophy of Iranian architect and humanitarian Nader Khalili through an immersive technological experience.

Art Beyond the Canvas will explore the NGO organizations’ initiatives and their impact, focusing on the newly constructed Langbos Children’s Shelter in South Africa. The Langbos project, led by Intsikelelo and Eco Domes Africa, fed, trained, and employed 30 multi-generational local community members in its construction. This was made possible through the use of the Superadobe building method developed by late Iranian-American architect and humanitarian Nader Khalili, whose legacy lives on through Cal-Earth Institute, a Southern California based education center that continues to teach and advance the unique, environmentally-friendly building method.

Photographic works will feature alongside video projections and an interactive Superadobe installation and virtual reality experience, educating attendees about Superadobe and taking viewers through an immersive journey to the Superadobe construction site of the Langbos Children’s Shelter.
