C.A.V.E. Gallery  kicks off  2013 with strong shows from Amanda Marie and Max Neutra.

Amanda Marie, among the most talented women working in the genre of “Stencilism” uses an endearing yet bold, visual language accented by her trademark work with vintage sewing and geometric patterns. Influenced by classic ‘Golden Era’ illustrators like Eloise Wilken, Tibor Gergely and Leonard Weisgard, Amanda Marie places homogenized and stereotyped, ideal Modern American children in encounter surreal scenarios, touching on the realities of alienation and feeling lost which lie underneath the surface of the picture perfect American childhood. Shades of  Tom Wolfe and Norman Mailer wherein mom and dad and buddy and sis   are simultaneously lured and repulsed, drowned and resurrected in America’s underground river of

untapped, ferocious, lonely and romantic desires, that concentration of ecstasy and violence which is the dream life of the nation.

Amanda Marie has created a new body of work for “From Here On Out” at C.A.V.E. Gallery, following her strong showings at Scope Miami, Moniker (London), and Stroke (Munich) art fairs.

Max Neutra returns to C.A.V.E. Gallery after his sold out 2012 show, with “New Tongues,” using his distinctive gonzo style, exploring themes of communication and perception with his distinctive gonzo style.  He also explores his work in Eva Recinos’ interview with him on CARTWHEEL, Bunnies, Music, and Paint: Max Neutra on His Journey and New Tongues.

Artist reception Friday January 12, 7pm-10. Show runs through February 2.
