Two great tastes that taste great together: cats and art. The question these two themes bring forward is this: Where would art be without cats? Well, for one thing, this wouldn’t exist. Someone out there had the great idea to curate this show, and thank goodness they did. Because just as the world needs more pictures of cats, the world needs more galleries in which to view collections of cat pictures, and this probably the only one you’ll be able to see in Los Angeles, for a while at least. Artists with pieces in the show include Antony Micallef, Brandon Boyd, Christian Furr, C215, FAILE, Gary Baseman, Guy Denning, Jill Greenberg, Kimberly Brooks, Luke Chueh, Marc Dennis, Marion Peck, Martin Eder, Mercedes Helnwein, Natalia Fabia, Noel Fielding, Ray Caesar, Sage Vaughn, Shepard Fairey, Steve Schapiro, Tim Biskup, and Tracey Emin, so if you are at all interested in low brow and contemporary art and consider yourself a cat person, this is the place to be.
Opening reception is Jan. 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The show will be open to the public for a scattered few days after the opening, so it is best to check the website to determine what other times to visit.
