Opening at La Luz de Jesus Gallery on Friday, July 5, 2013, are Derek Harrison‘s “L.A. Woman,” Click Mort‘s “Mutatis Mutandis,” Mel Weiner‘s “Esther Milkfat and Other Characters,” and Jasmine Worth‘s “Cultus Sanguine.”
Harrison’s oil on linen work MacArthur is pictured above, a representation of the artist’s open narratives of female empowerment in the city of Angels.
“Mutatis Mutandis” is Latin for “only the necessary changes have been made.” Click Mort’s modified porcelain figurines are kitsch resurrected; this is his third exhibition with the gallery.
With “Esther Milkfat and Other Characters,” L.A. native Mel Weiner renders an illustrated expose of Hollywood’s past.
San Diego artist Jasmine Worth’s “Cultus Sanguine” offers scenes from fairytales gone awry, in which there is a connection between blood and life, birth and death, and the idea that all is one.
