The Last Bookstore in Downtown Los Angeles will host a talk and book signing by multi-talented artist Jim Mahfood aka Food ONE on November 16. This is the second of two Mahfood-related events in two days, the first of which is an opening for his work at Hero Complex Gallery on Nov. 15. This event will offer attendees an intimate location to sign copies of Visual Funk, Mahfood’s new book, along with a presentation with visuals and artist Q&A.

He’s the visual force, with Joe Casey and Man of Action, behind DISCO Destroyer for MTV’s Liquid Television and has published multiple books of his work.

Mahfood’s illustrations have a classically formed foundation that utilizes rhythm and free-form paint and ink to create a language and style entirely of his own. While Mahfood got his start in comic books, his career has branched off into the fields of illustration, advertising, murals, fine art, animation, live art in nightclubs, and custom body-painting.
