Copro Gallery offers to the public “Naughty or Nice,” a group exhibition of Krampus-themed artwork just in time for the holiday season. Krampus is an alpine Christmas character, the punitive, demon-like, companion to St. Nicholas who at best menaces and at worst tortures misbehaving children. Within the gallery walls, the exhibition showcases art curated by Albert Cuellar and Copro Gallery from dozens of well known artists. In front of the galley, the outdoor spectacle of a Krampus performance group, The Krampus L.A. troupe, will take place.

Krampus L.A. is the only Krampus performance troupe in the western United States. These furry, horned and bedeviled revelers adhere to a centuries-old tradition of playfully menacing onlookers by brandishing switches and rattling bells and chains to admonish passerby for their “sins” of the past year. This event is not to be missed. The art is remarkable and the performance will be impossible to forget.

While the opening reception is between 8 and 11:30 p.m., the performance occurs between 9:30 and 10 p.m.

Other Krampus-themed events that week include and The Krampus Ball on Dec. 7 at 8;00 p.m. in The Set Shop (428 Colyton St, Los Angeles, CA 90013), and the Krampus Troupe during the Downtown Los Angeles Artwalk. Tickets for the Krampus Ball are $18 at the door and $15 in advance. The DTLA Artwalk, as always is free!

Copro Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., but during the holidays their times may change so it is suggested that you email or call prior to visiting just to make sure.
