Custom boards and decks, designed by both athletes and artists, will be available at the Surf & Skate silent art auction, held Aug. 29, 2013 at Robert Berman Gallery at the Bergamot Station Arts Center. One hundred percent of the proceeds of the event — now in its third year — go to the Venice Family Clinic.
This year, the highly-anticipated annual auction makes a nod to the “The Endless Summer,” the 1964 Bruce Brown film which is celebrating 50 years. John Van Hamersveld, whose poster design is now the most iconic image from the entire history of the sport, is the 2013 Venice Art Walk Signature Artist, and his drawings are also on display at Cal State Northridge Aug. 26 through Oct. 12, 2013.
Van Hamersveld is on the Surf & Skate auction host committee along with Robert Berman, Kristy Campbell, Laddie John Dill, Mark X Farina, David Hertz, Jeff Ho, Jason Lewis, Andy Moses, Pat Ngoho and Jennifer Wolf.
The huge list of artists includes 2wenty, Kevin Ancell, Casper Brindle, David Browne, Kristy Campbell, Canlove, Laddie John Dill, DJ Neff, Skip Engblom, Jim Evans, Ned Evans, Mark X Farina, James Georgopolous, Robb Havassy, Tony Hawk, David Hertz, Jeff Ho, Christian Hosoi, Craig Ibarra, David Lloyd, Andy Moses, Ed Moses, Lance Mountain, Steve Olson, Gregory Siff, Craig Stecyk, Alex Weinstein, Jennifer Wolf and many more.
