Gallery 3: Keith Ross Dugas, aka KrossD
Along with being a witty and knowledgeable art writer at CARTWHEEL, Keith Ross Dugas, under the nom de brosse KrossD, creates a storm of bold paintings, five of which are part of a group show at Gallery 3 in Reno, Nevada. The majority of Keith’s striking, colorful works in this exhibition incorporate graphics, lettering and graffiti to emphasize his cultural commentary, while Puzzlin Evidence delivers its comtemplative message on a background of muted blue shades using off-white and grey.
The group show features a number of social commentary pieces utilizing cultural icons, including works by The Signtologist and Rene Gagon, then shifts to straight portraiture with Russel King and Chad Sweet, whose nudes against Klimt-esque backgrounds, Death of Beauty V and Death of Beauty VI, run in direct contract the over-stylized nymphettes and cartoonishly curved bazoombatrixes that rose to to prominence as idealized, fetishized female forms during the first wave of Pop Surrealism.
While visiting the casinos in Reno is a gamble, a sure bet would be this show which runs through September 27.
