Photo Book Workshop with Reuben Cox at Sonos Studio
Photographer Reuben Cox recently conducted a workshop at Sonos Studio, inspired by the current exhibit on display “Cross Process,” which features 12 photographers from W Magazine’s stable. Reuben is solid photographer with series of work that spans from editorial, celebrity and music.
In this workshop Reuben discussed his own series of work such as: “River,” “Record Shack,” and “What a Woman Wants.” Thru this discussion, Cox discussed how that work can translate into a book format. Cox’s books, “The Work of Joe Webb: Appalachian Master of Rustic Architecturem” was published in 2009, and Cox took us through the process of editing and making this book, from mockup to writing.
Last leg of the workshop entailed participants creating a zine with photographs sent in by everyone in the workshop. We worked collectively to layout the photos, gathering them and placing them together based on strength of work and cohesiveness. For budding photographers this provided a real step that can guide them in evaluating their work and the help them recognize direction in which they are going, helping them create a solid piece of work that can be shared with the world.
“Cross Process“ will be on display until October 21st.
