Photos: Ed Templeton “Memory Foam” at Roberts & Tilton
Two time world champion skater Ed Templeton began his career as an artist painting graphic for his pro-model skateboards on New Deal and then on boards for his own brands, including his current skate company Toy Machine. A photographer as well as a painter and graphic designer, Templeton was on hand at the opening of “Memory Foam” at Roberts & Tilton and to sign his book of the same name.
Templeton’s a popular guy, and a long line waited to get their books signed. Despite a broken leg (skiing accident), the photographer was in good spirits as he met his fans from both the art and skate worlds (and there’s a lot of crossover!).
With “Memory Foam,” Templeton focuses on his hometown of Huntington Beach, documenting the people who live and work in what in a town envisioned and planned as a perfect Southern California community, which has shifted and changed with the cultural and economic tides.
