Photo Preview: Allison Hueman Torneros “Ritual”
For the past two weeks, Allison Hueman Torneros has locked herself in Think Tank Gallery in preparation for her show “Ritual” opening Thursday July 11, 2013. Furthering her work which is nspired by nature, psychology, and dreams, Torneros followed a handful of LA artists, including Vyal and Cryptik, as well as actors, musicians and performers, gaining insight into the rituals they engage in before shows or working, learning their superstitions and what they do in order to break through to their creative side. Then she began her own ritualized transformation of the Think Tank warehouse gallery space into a study of human behavior in the City of Angels. She explains:
Los Angeles has a bad rep for being a vast city with no center. It’s easy to feel lost and alone here, but this show is something I could only do in LA. It explores the unique and diverse spectrum of spirituality, ritual, superstition that can only be concentrated in a city like this.
Think Tank will hold an opening reception for “Ritual” from 7pm-11pm during Thursday’s Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk.
