PROJECT Gallery Celebrates Indian Larry
The late legendary biker, Indian Larry was known for his stunt riding abilities and his mad skills customizing motorcycles. He came into the public eye through his appearance in the Discovery Channel program, Motorcycle Mania II in 2001, and died in 2004 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash. Larry lived to ride and rode to live, and his friend his long time friend and riding partner photographer Timothy White documented the mind bending choppers Larry created as well as his his wild antics, tattoos, and his carnivalesque character and stunts.
Currently PROJECT Gallery features White’s compelling and intimate images of Indian Larry and his radical bikes; the opening was star studded and exciting with a rows of chopped Harleys parked out front; inside, the exhibit features compelling and intimate images of Indian Larry and his radical bikes, as well as a viewing of the actual one of a kind, custom motorcycle “Rolex,” built by the late artist. The show runs through September 8.
This Thursday, August 29, the gallery hosts a celebration of Indian Larry, honoring the ninth anniversary of Larry’s death, with musical guests Bitch Led by Jonny Kaplan, Bitch is a rotating collective of super talent from the likes of Blind Melon, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and other bands. The party starts at 7pm.
