Save the Date! TJ Martell Artworks for the Cure October 11-13
Over 100 artists fill Barker Hanger in Santa Monica the weekend of October 11-13 for the TJ Martell Artworks for the Cure, celebrating offbeat, eclectic and irreverent art while funding innovative medical research focused on finding cures for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. The list of artists is fresh, exciting and impressive. The participating galleries include Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Craig Krull Gallery, LAB ART, Duncan Miller Gallery, and Project Gallery, so expect to have your mind blown by street art from around the globe; surf, skate, snowboard art; a display of low-rider cars; a photo exhibit of graffiti art from the Berlin Wall; a screening room showing video art and short films;rock photography and 3-D chalk art. And because the TJ Martell Foundation is the music industry’s number one charity, expect–along with established and brilliant up-and-coming painters, photographers, and mixed media artist–the graphic works of well-known music artists.

The weekend begins Friday at 7pm with a VIP meet-the-artists reception with an art preview, sale and auction, plus live music, a DJ, beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Saturday night is TJ Martell Spirit of Excellence Awards, featuring a cocktail reception and dinner by An Catering, more art viewing and the awards ceremony which will honor Catherine An, Managing Partner House of An Founder/An Catering & Tiato; Troy Carter, Founder/CEO, Atom Factory; Daniel Elk, CEO & Founder Spotify; and Rob Wells, President Global Digital Business, Universal Music Group. Sunday, from noon to 5pm is final day of the exhibition and auction which will feature music, wine, beer, gourmet food trucks and more.
Tickets for Friday’s meet the artist reception are $75 (use the code CART at check out and receive at $25 per ticket discount for Friday). Saturday’s Spirit of Excellence dinner tickets run $500-$1000 and include admission to both Friday and Sunday’s events, plus $250 in “artbucks” to be used toward the purchase of eligible art pieces. Sunday tickets are $25 (and Artworks for the Cure will give away five pairs of those to the first five people who visit Artworks for the Cure 2013 Facebook page and mention CARTWHEEL).
