Photographer Eric Minh Swenson joins us as a contributor at CARTWHEELart.com, bringing his sharp eye and intimate focus to our website and Facebook page. Swenson, the son of acclaimed photographer Lou Swenson, has shot hundreds of artists, art world figures, and art openings in Southern California and Las Vegas, and has just completed his 321st art video. His ability to make his subjects feel at ease is clear in both his videos and his photography, and his drive and skill are evident in his work.  No one else has managed to capture so many artists in their studios, or cover so many figures in the current art scene. He’s prolific, and more importantly, he’s really good.

This summer Eric was in Hawaii shooting his fourth feature film, Mana, a documentary about ten Light and Space painters, produced by Andi Campognone, director of the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster. Mana explores the relationship of these artists with their families, the ocean–they are all surfers–and creativity.

Eric has provided photos for us in the past, and has shot studio visits with our writers, and we’re excited to have him join us on a regular basis. Eric will be shooting for us and providing us with access to his library of photos  videos, allowing us to give you a look at the many artists, gallerists, and collectors who have made Southern California such a vital, exciting, and important art location.
