Magic and Realism: Photographs by Bill Leigh Brewer and Osceola Refetoff
Photography captures reality in a way unlike any other art form, and it is the magical adeptness of the photographer which transforms what could have been a simple snapshot into fine art.
The two day exhibition, “Magic and Realism: Photographs by Bill Leigh Brewer and Osceola Refetoff,” opening April 18 at Chungking Studios presents two photographers who use their magic to bring a heightened sense of reality–a real sense of the magic–to desolate spaces, be they industrial or desert landscapes.
And official part of Month of Photography Los Angeles, “Magic and Realism” is curated by art powehouse/superwoman Shana Nys Dambrot (she’s the curator behind the LA Weekly Artopia at the Container Yard, April 30).
Chung King Road has other openings April 18 including Abel Alejandre “Abandoned Superhero” at Coagula. It’s the place to be this Saturday night!
