Coverage: The Container Yard’s Artist “Gallery” Experience
Saturday, January 27th was The Container Yard’s first private event of 2017. Cartwheel Art was there to experience a special evening with 4 diverse artists from the Los Angeles community.
The one-night event that was organized for a private client, started with a formal candlelit dinner designed by Shawna Yamamoto & Company and Wife of the Party, which later ushered attendees into an after party, where the true art “experience” began.
The Artist “Gallery” Experience completely transformed The Container Yard’s back lot. A popup gallery was erected in the middle of the lot, showcasing the work of 4 artists: Vyal One, SEK, Drew Merritt, and Dcypher. The white-walled gallery space was juxtaposed with custom installations that brought the streets indoors: a bus stop covered with flyers and graffiti, a car crash resting next to the cocktail bar, and a DJ booth perched up against constructed railroad tracks and aerosol-covered forklift. Throughout the night, the four artists had their own creative spaces set up, live painting and interacting with others throughout the night.
Circa Rentals provided the perfect lounge set ups to compliment the installations, while guests enjoyed tunes from The Beat Junkies’ DJ Babu and Rhettmatic .
The Container Yard is currently working on releasing this project to the public. Stay tuned for daily updates at The Container Yard.
