Arts District Daze, a monthly event held every 3rd Saturday from 1:00pm-6:00PM, in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District neighborhood, is happening next Saturday September 16th. Join us for special art events, exclusive menu items, sales, music and more. Arts District Daze is hosted by the Los Angeles River Artists and Business Association.

Cindy Schwarzstein founder of Cartwheel Art Tours and resident of the Arts District, will be leading a free guided tour from 3:00pm – 4:30pm. During this tour, you will meet three artist’s from the neighborhood, in Cartwheel Art Tours new monthly series, “Meet the Artists of the Arts District.” This month’s featured artists are Damon Martin, Anyes Galleani and David Hollen.

Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles presents a discussion on Monika Sosnowska with SCI-Arc architects. Also a special presentation of Brazilian artworks in conjunction with the Participating Gallery Program of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA. This is the final weekend to view monumental black walnut sculptures based on the German folk-tale of Snow White by LA-based artist Paul McCarthy and poetically dystopian sculptures by Polish artist Monika Sosnowska.

Wilding Cran Gallery

Wilding Cran Gallery has an opening reception on Saturday night for “The man who saved a dog from an imaginary fire”, a solo presentation of work by Los Angeles based artist Ariana Papademetropoulos.
Taking inspiration from imagined spaces, vintage magazines, and books, Papademetropoulos creates environments that juxtapose ideas of perception and delusion. By using both realism and trompe l’oeil she references the history of painting while further developing the sense of illusion within her work.
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA)

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA), a new museum housed in a renovated industrial building in Downtown Los Angeles. The special programming that they’ve planned for the second weekend of their inaugural opening happening during Arts District Daze is as follows: Make art like Martín Ramírez in ICA LA’s Matchsticks and Mashed Potatoes family-friendly workshop, inspired by the artist’s alternative and resourceful art-making.
