SAVE THE DATE! The Downtown LA Holiday Art Walk is this Thursday December 14th!
Every second Thursday of the month, the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk is a treat for art enthusiasts, food truck aficionados, local urbanites, and visitors to the DT area. Predominantly located between 4th and 8th streets on Spring and Main, the free self-guided tour includes nearly 30 galleries that stay open late this one night per month, many with special opening receptions and visiting artists. You will also enjoy the many public sculptures, over twenty murals, and an abundance of sidewalk pop-up vendors selling all manners of art, crafts, and jewelry. This month the Downtown LA Art Walk will be brimming with holiday special events at multiple galleries, featuring distinctive exhibits, holiday pricing, handmade artisanal gifts, live music, Christmas caroling, and the KRAMPUS Run. Pick up your map at the Art Walk Lounge, newly relocated this month to Gloria Delson Contemporary Arts, at 727 S. Spring or at one of the participating galleries. Most galleries open until 8 PM, some until 10 PM. You won’t want to miss the Art Walk this month! General info here
Specific holiday events and exhibits include:
LA Krampus Run “Krampuslauf 2017” On Winston St. between Main & Los Angeles. 8-9 pm
This event celebrates an authentic European style Krampuslauf (Krampus Run) as part of the December Holiday Art Walk. Part costumed chaos, part historic cultural tradition, this now-annual event features dozens of Krampuses pursuing those naughty enough to deserve the switch. While misbehaving hipsters can expect playful yet much-deserved swattings, children and more timid grown-ups will be protected by the benevolent St. Nicholas, overseeing festivities from a 19th-century-style steam car, built and transported every year to LA by artist-engineer Kimric Smythe of BEAST BAY KRAMPUS.

He invites visitors to take a walk in his shoes, and see what it’s like to work, live and play in the City of LA.
