SAVE THE DATE: “Jane Callister: Baroco-pop” at Royale Projects – Sunday January 7th (12-5 pm)
Royale Projects will be presenting a solo exhibition of abstract paintings by Jane Callister, with an opening on Sunday January 7th. This exhibit of her painterly gestural work is balanced between two color stories, an older grouping in monochromatic shades of grey, the other series in a bright, multi-color palette.
More about the Artist:
Jane Callister was born in 1963 in Douglas, Isle of Man, an independent island situated between England and Ireland. Today she lives, paints, and teaches in Santa Barbara, CA. Her exhibit explores the influences of location, bringing together a certain serenity of her homeland with the excitement of color found in So Cal. She invites visitors to stay and “listen” to the colors.
Jane’s work has been shown internationally at museums including Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; New Museum, New York; the First Prague Biennale, Veletržní Palace, Czech Republic; Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach; Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara; Art, Design and Architecture Museum at the University of California, Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; Las Vegas Art Museum; and Västerbottens Museum, Umeå, Sweden
