SAVE THE DATE! Multiple events on Saturday Jan. 20th at Chinatown Art Galleries!
Chinatown Art Gallery action heats up this Saturday night with three opening events occurring simultaneously along Chung King Road.
Coagula Gallery is pleased to present Alex Couwenberg and Steve Diet Goedde in Collaboration, a two-man collaborative exhibit exploring two manners of fetish. Coewenberg is an abstract painter influenced by the surf and skateboard cultures, but also by the “custom car and hot rod aesthetic” known as Finish Fetish. His unique painting style has garnered him much attention, with his work now in the collections of multiple museums. Goedde is a well-known erotic/fetish photographer with a subtle approach to a usually not-so-subtle genre, causing him to be referred to as the “Ansel Adams of erotic photography.” The opening reception from 7- 10 PM will also feature a special DJ set by So-Cal Low Brow legend COOP.
Charlie James Gallery is premiering two exhibits this Saturday with a reception from 6-9 PM. Upstairs, he is presenting After’ After the Contemporary’, an exhibition of new and recent works on paper by New York-based artist William Powhida. The second exhibit is a group show called IT’S OK. ↘ a group exhibition curated by Sacha Baumann, featuring Nadege Monchera Baer, Hayley Barker, Megan Mueller, Stephen Neidich, Kottie Paloma, Molly Segal, and Luke Whitlatch.
A few doors down, The Good Luck Gallery will feature a solo show of prints by the late visionary artist Andrew Frieder, from 7-10 PM. An ongoing exhibit at Tieken Gallery featuring Kellisimone Waits: Astro Kittens and Patricia Sannit- Life Flashing Before your Eyes will also be viewable during extended hours that evening.
