SAVE THE DATE: 5 Art Gallery Opens in WeHo with “Art de Rue” – Thursday, May 17th
Art with an international flavor – the new 5 Art Gallery – is having their official grand opening on Thursday, May 17th at 8250 Melrose Avenue in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District. The gallery, opened by Parisian entrepreneurs and art collectors Jean-Jacques and Julie Darmon, will focus on French street artists with a few selections from other international stars within that genre. Featured artists include BABS, Christophe Catelain, L’Atlas, Pro176, Richard Orlinski, Tanc, MonkeyBird, DON, Xare and Zenoy from France, RISK of LA, Coinslot from Miami, and Russian-born artist Elena Bulatova, showing her vibrant candy sculptures.
Enamored of the street art and graffiti scene here in Los Angeles, the couple felt that although LA has many international artists creating large-scale street murals, the French artists were under-represented.
“I grew up appreciating the abundant art, culture and beauty in my everyday life in France,” explains gallery co-founder Julie Darmon. “Los Angeles has become such an epicenter for eclectic street art styles, but the kind I saw in Paris is strangely missing from this landscape, even though it’s such a good fit.”
“Our overarching goal is to support French street artists whose work we personally admire—whose creativity has given us such a passion for the arts,” says Jean-Jacques Darmon. “This new adventure is a human one—we are the bridge between these amazing artists and LA’s fast-growing art scene.”
Street parking is available. Please RSVP to gallery@5-art.com
