PREVIEW: Celebrate Identity Gala at A + D: Architecture and Design Museum – Saturday May 12th
A+D Museum is celebrating its 17th year of progressive architecture, design programs, and innovative exhibitions with its annual gala and fundraiser, “CELEBRATE: IDENTITY” on Saturday, May 12 from 7:00-11:00 PM at the Museum. This year’s theme brings gala goers together for an electric evening of performances, food, drink, and music.
From the Museum: For one night A+D will be transformed into one of the most interactive spaces of all, a Metro line, where guests will be able to experience the anonymous characters who add vibrancy to our otherwise monotonous commutes. The museum walls will be illuminated by train station scenery, flower shops, and paper stands. The atmosphere of a city soundscape will be punctuated by classical music, drummers, and performers who will emerge out of the crowd, as well as graffiti artists on site. Platform spotlights will reveal figures in fashions by Marco Marco (performance-wear designer for Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and others), whose colorful and innovative designs famously honor all body types and identities.
Food is by Mei Lin, the winner of Top Chef. Beer generously donated by Fort Point, wine generously donated by Vin De California.
I was provided a preview at A + D Museum this morning. The following are some of the WIP images I took of the space and its graffiti walls, as well as Marco Marco dressing the mannequins, in addition to Aiseborn painting an exterior mural. Besides the photos below, check out my Facebook Live and Instagram live video, posted earlier this morning.
