Cactus Gallery is proud to present “Comfort Foods,” a solo exhibition by multimedia artist Douglas Alvarez. Comfort Foods is an exploration into the psyche of human relationships and our infatuation with food. For Alvarez’s new exhibit, one is asked to think about meals in a different light and examine how they trigger a variety of emotional responses. Through personal identity, belief, free will, happiness, excess, waste and want, our desires and relationships with food become apparent and perhaps, the focal point of our lives. The subjects range from fast food advertisements, delectable donuts to spicy waitresses. Douglas Alvarez has combined all these media into an interactive installation, a domestic environment where one can savor delicious junk foods while playing video games in a comfy chair.
