Rev up your horror engines and get a jump on Halloween–along with some inspiration for a costume or haunted house as Copro presents the closing event for Chet Zar’s monument to monsters “Ego Death” and Nikko Hurtado’s first solo show “Renati.”
This is a one-night-only, over top event. Along with the Ego Death series presented at Beyond Eden expect a hearse, a funeral procession, a coffin with Black Magick playing the role of The Ego, a eulogy, a live organ player and tons of other surprises. While the first opening at Barnsdall during Beyond Eden was be a special event in itself, the Copro show is geared up to be an extreme, and free, Halloween party.
Black clothing and/or gothic funeral attire is encouraged. Since Zar will have an open coffin with Black Magick inside of it, he’s encouraging people to bring small items to put inside the coffin as offerings to the ego as it’s sent on its way into the great beyond.
Meanwhile, Nikko Hurtado’s meditative, painterly studies of the mythical and erotic will both arouse and sooth your subconscious. They’re gorgeous.
Pro tip: Parking can be crazed. Consider going in a group and/or taking Uber or Lyft!
