Ling Ly uses graphite and oil to create technically impeccable images of beauty in nature. D.W.Marino takes the worst corporate-induced environmental disasters and renders them in candy coated childlike multimedia dream pieces. Paige Jiyoung Moon draws characters that perform normal tasks in a lively, innovative, award-winning style. Joanne Seohyun Nam uses soft colors to illuminate slightly scary images showing aspects of her native Korean folklore. Ling Ly’s “Moments,” D.W. Marino’s “Playskool Apocalips,” Paige Jiyoung Moon’s “Here & There,” and Joanne Seohyun Nam’s “Terra Cognito (Familiar Ground)” make up four solo shows all taking place at La Luz De Jesus gallery in Silverlake until Feb. 2 2014.
The gallery is located in the back of Wacko/Soap Plant, a store on Hollywood Blvd. near Vermont. To view the art you must walk through a vastly entertaining array of books, chotchkies and collectibles, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your budget.
