First show of the year for La Luz de Jesus opens Friday, January 4 with an eclectic and outstanding line up–and attendees! The show runs through January 31:

Hudson Marquez is one of the fathers of modern installation art as a founding member of the Ant Farm Art Collective and was the driving force behind the iconic Cadillac Ranch sculpture in Amarillo, Texas. CARTWHEEL’s Keith Dugas profiles the groundbreaking artist here.

Junko Mizuno has exhibited in one form or another on five continents, and her Manga work has been translated into numerous languages, while her artwork has taken the form of vinyl figures, plush animals, collectible stickers, custom stationary, fine clothing, graphic novels and even a line of erotic products. “Euphoria” is Junko’s first feature exhibition at La Luz de Jesus Gallery.

Lisa Petrucci’s latest paintings are a tribute to her love of vintage pop culture, and her delightfully demented tableaus include some of her favorite toys, dolls, subjects and places; some real, and some imaginary, as well as pin-up girls and boudoir babes. This is classic Pop Surrealism, featuring the sweet, the sexy and slightly scary.

Shaun Berke’s “Sisters of the Inquisition” is a direct contrast to the pop styles of the other artists in this La Luz de Jesus show. His classical paintings focus on historical religious elements, and are fraught with emotion and a palate of northern Italian light. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, where he currently runs a painting workshop, Berke is also member of The Getty Research Institute; and has received awards from awards by the Westlake Village Art Guild, Thousand Oaks Art Association, Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, and Alyce De Roulet Williamson.
