La Luz de Jesus Gallery opens three shows with an artist reception on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 8 to 11pm. All three exhibitions hang through June 2.

In “Idle Worship,” Vicki Berndt immortalizes her own personal saviors. A rock photographer and merchandiser, she currently creates for the estates of both Dee Dee and Johnny Ramone.

In “Darklands,” Mark Gleason‘s recent body of oil paintings viewers see his preoccupation with human/animal relationships, outsider figures, and private places.

In “Round Eye and the Switch,” Dave Dexter paints symbolic politics. This is his second feature exhibition at La Luz de Jesus. Says the artist:

“The paintings attempt to recontextualize learned stereotypes in order to foster a safe non-threatening dialogue between viewer and art object.”
