Merry Karnowsky is proud to present two exciting exhibits featuring the work of Mel Kadel and Mark Whalen. Both exhibits open this Saturday, October 13th and opening reception is from 8-11pm.
“Stuck on a Wave” features the work intricate work of Mel Kadel. She works her .005 millimeter lines across hand stained paper and lets vintage ‘50s pastel shades fill the gaps in all manner of patterns. They are reminiscent of fish scales, leaves, flowers and interlocking chains but most characteristically – of the steady ebb and flow of waves.
“Portals” features new works by Los Angeles based artist Mark Whalen. Whalen leads us on a leap into complex and ritualistic universes, continually challenging our perspective and expectations. He gives us new windows on alternate universes, complex cultures in full swing of impenetrable, mysterious rituals; disassembling, assembling, worshipping or being warped by an unsteady flow of dimensional time and space.
