“Strange Discoveries” will feature the surreal creatures and characters that make up much of Louie’s art. His paintings show mysterious and otherworldly beings, mainly in colors that come out as muted black, white and silver. Each piece is accompanied by a short fantastical story that features the subject of his portraits as a main character. Travis Louie’s art is grounded in an Edwardian aesthetic that incorporates inventive painting techniques with washes and simple strokes on smooth boards.
