Amanda and Shepard Fairey know how to throw a party! The occasion at Subliminal Projects on Friday, March 22? The opening reception for Planes, Trains & Automobiles, works by Tara Smith and  Jessica Hess, focusing on machines of mobility and their current state–which many cases means decay. Hess, a graduate of RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and a recipient of the Trent Burleson Painting Prize, the Faber Birren National Color Award, paints in vibrant photorealism. Smith, the Deputy Director of the Oceanside Museum of Art’s Deputy Director  depicts garbage trucks, helicopters, big-rigs and tanks as portraits of individuals, couples and personalities.

Shepard Fairey will be spinning for the opening Friday March 22, 2013, and the show itself runs through April 20.
