Bay Area artist Ian Ross opened his PROJECT GALLERY show, “Hyperorganic” February 16th, exposing Los Angeles to his spontaneous creative method and embrace of nature. Known for his live painting–he’s painted live murals in high tech offices for companies like Facebook, Google, Vendini, Alphaboost, AdRoll and Zimride–Ross’s passionate connection to nature comes through in his large scale pieces. Ross’ connection to nature through his art is embraced by both the technological and the public arts spheres: He was the 2011 in-house artist for Facebook, and painted a 110 ft mural in San Francisco that was featured on the cover of the Wall St. Journal for a story called “Graffiti’s New Enemy, Legal Art,” as well painting a 10 mural “environment” inside Start-Up House in SF, with an additional a 60 ft. tall behemoth on the building’s exterior, facing the Bay Bridge.” Hyperorganic” runs thorugh March 16, and Ian will be in the gallery February 28 between 6pm and 8pm, live painting and participating in a discussion with the Hollywood Arts Council.
Project Gallery features established as well as emerging artists in the genres of contemporary, street, low-brow, pop surrealism, photography, and installation art, so it’s perfect as the the location for the CARTWHEEL second annual spring pop-up, March 21 to 24, 2013.
