A Theater In The Woods

The theater pictured above is in the midst of a redwood forest on UC Santa Cruz’s campus. The stage crew had just taken a break from building a massive installation, which on an even surface would be easy to do, but seemed impossible to execute on the soft floor. However, due to the ingenuity of master carpenters and wizardly engineers they’ve managed to make the stage extremely stable on uneven and malleable ground. During the daytime, the outdoor theater looked incredible, so I can’t even imagine what it’s like at night when it’s lit with a full production. I mean, you’re literally standing at the base of 400ft tall trees watching the kinetic art of Shakespearian theater!!!
