On August 18th, WWA Gallery in Culver City opened the 4th Annual “We’ve Got Issues.” The black and white group show, which runs trough September 27th, features artists Ana Bagayan, Anthony Ausgang, David Flores, JC Rivera, Angry Woebots and many others. The impressive amount of work in this show were done in ink, graphite or sharpie, with imagery varying from the surreal to comical.
Also opening that night was “Blood,” a group show curated by Prisma with works of art themed around blood as imagery. Artists used different means to achieve their results such as the Kelly McKernan watercolor–fish scales in blood with hooks dropping from above. Her art nouveau style of hair and textured background play well together, and called to mind, without any direct references, Klimt’s Blood of Fish and other works currently on display at the Getty Center.
