Photos: Bobby Furst, Rat Fink Opening at La Luz
Acclaimed Joshua Tree artist Bobby Furst and fans of Rat Fink filled La Luz de Jesus on Friday Jun 7 for the opening of a doubled barreled pair of shows packing a whallop. Furst’s assemblage–shown for the first time outside of his desert studio and curated by Billy Shire–displayed his passion and social conscience.
Meanwhile, artists influenced by Big Daddy Ed Roth were given identical resin model kits of the artist’s iconic Rat Fink and told to go to town and customize the Kustom Kulture hero. The customized critters resonate with the finest in Low Brow and Pop Surrealist expressions.
Both shows are up through June 30, 2013.
