Photos: Robert Williams, Mr. Bitchin’ Premier Screening, Egyptian Theatre
Robert Williams, Mr Bitchin‘–the wild ride, the mind-expanding trip through the decades with artist Robert Williams–hit the shelves and screens on July 30, 2013 as a DVD and video-on-demand. To celebrate, the Egyptian Theatre held screening of the film. On the panel for the Q&A, filmmakers Mary Reese and Nancye Ferguson, Mat Gleason, Robert, and his wife and fellow hot rodder, artist Suzanne Williams.
Interested in what went into making the film? Check out my interview with Mary and Nancye on Firedoglake.com. And the first video below is Cindy’s accidentally captured video before the screening, during the Q&A, and after; the second is a clip from Robert Williams Mr Bitchin’ which lays out why exactly Robert Williams is such a monumental figure, truly the primogenitor, in conceptual narrative painting, aka Pop Surrealism or low brow.
