The Inn Gallery, next to Ye Old Rustic Inn on Hillhurst Avenue is a perfect local gallery. It’s got a parking lot, a Chinese restaurant on one side and a popular, funky drinking dive on the other, and it’s on a busty walk street. Open for openings and closing, and evenings after 6pm, the gallery is a labor of love and community support (portion of the proceeds go to support Haven Hills, a shelter for women to assist with their art therapy programs). The gallery was actually an under-used storage space for Ye Rustic when the bar’s manager Jana Pitlova, herself an artist, saw the potential for a gallery space. Jana’s partner Anne C. explains:
We don’t have a website and we don’t really want one. We have an eclectic clientele and aim to keep this gritty, simple and very indicative of the neighborhood, all about the art, not about the fluff or attitude.
The Inn Gallery’s current show, featuring Louie Metz, Darby Krow, Erick Yanez, Sergio Polanco, Antonio Mendoza, Jana Pitlova, acclaimed tattooist Bob Vessels, and photographs by Kimberly Zsebe (who is best known for icon paitnings) will be celebrated with a two night closing party Frdiay January 17 and Saturday January 18 from 8pm to 11pm. The Inn Gallery is located at 1815 N. Hillhurst, in Los Feliz, 90027, next to the neighborhood’s venerable waterhole, Ye Rustic Inn.
