Daido Moriyama objectifies and binds in his photography, casting a grainy but high contrast black and white look at the dominance and dark sides of human nature, and the nature of the environment that encases humans. There is sadism. There is masculinity. There is doubt. There are bathroom tiles. These photos kill.

Smith Anderson North, out of San Francisco, featured a limited edition photogravure collection of Moriyama’s 18 etchings entitled KAGERO, with 50 copies debuting at photo LA. These are the first and limited edition of erotic photos by Moriyama, glaringly masterful with light and shadow, sinister and complex renditions of female bodies in bondage and landscape.
