Save the Date: Karen Hsiao / Miso Exhibition at La Luz de Jesus – April 7th
Painter and photographer Karen Hsiao‘s works are a glorious combination of creativity and skill, realized through a a team of makeup artists, hairstylists, and fashion designers who help to materialize her intense and imaginative subject matter. Her newest collection of works, Vow of Silence (In Convents), opens tonight at La Luz de Jesus Gallery and remains on display throughout the month of April.
Her alter-ego, Miso works in miniature, with oil and metal, to create complex pieces that pair botanical beauty with dissected anatomical figures, and often include a magnifying glass. The mind boggles at her ability to create such lavish pieces on such a small scale, as seen in the latest Miso pieces in her La Fleur show.
Also showing in April, frontwoman of the legendary San Francisco punk group the Avengers’ Penelope Houston‘s first L.A. Gallery show, Muzzlers – The Accused.
